Appropriate placement involves hard work for families, students and
for the consultant. A family who works with Educational Counseling can
expect the following:
- Meeting with the family a whole to take an educational
inventory and to establish goals and to develop a plan.
- Meeting with
the student to take an interest inventory and to discuss long
and short term goals.
- A list of schools with a range of programs, and likelihood
of admission.
- Advice on necessary and appropriate testing.
- Coordination of school
visits and applications.
- Advocating for the student in the admissions
process and maintaining the family’s communication with
admissions offices.
- An ongoing dialogue about the list of schools, visits and application
procedures.
