Rev. Bert MarshallAbout

Peter D. Adams began his educational counseling work as the Admissions Director at The Hotchkiss School in 1971. In his work there he became familiar with the processes and strategies families develop to find appropriate educational matches for their children. In the course of his work, he also became aware that these intrinsic family strategies and processes do not work the same way for every family.

In order to better understand schools, students and family dynamics, Mr. Adams went to Harvard’s Graduate School of Education in 1981, where he received a degree in Counseling and Consulting Psychology. Studying both organizational diagnosis and psychology and becoming certified to administer a full battery of psychological and educational tests provided the framework for Mr. Adams previous experience in independent education and inspired him to begin Educational Counseling with an office in Hartford, CT. Simultaneously he worked in the counseling office of The University of Hartford until 1992, when he moved to western Massachusetts, maintaining an office there and in Avon, CT.

Mr. Adams currently serves on the board of advisors of the Cobb School, a Montessori school in Simsbury, CT and Ben Bronz Academy in West Hartford, CT, a day school for learning disabled children. He previously served on the Board of Trustees of The White Mountain School in Littleton, NH and ASSIST, Inc, a non-profit foreign exchange program. He is currently the consulting college counselor at The Academy at Charlemont, MA.
